Dream Killer

If you are an entrepreneur, or any person trying to realize a dream, this is a must read…
See below for excerpts from Mastin Kipp’s article  “This is a major dream killer”

Time and time again I’ve seen friends and clients – even I have been guilty of this at times – try to weigh options, figuring out what is the best path instead of trusting themselves, taking action and course correcting as they go.
There was an awesome quote from the famous Hollywood producer Kathleen Kennedy (of whom I am a BIG fan) on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter once. She said, “I don’t analyze things, I just do them.
One of the most important questions you can ask yourself on the path to your dreams is this: “Am I willing to risk being nothing in order to become something?”
If you can be cool with being nothing, then and only then can you have the freedom to take the risks that are necessary to make your dreams come true.
There are no certain outcomes. You can’t get it wrong. The only thing that prevents your dreams from coming true is when you stop and try to analyze everything to death, while taking no action and living out everything in your head.
This is a dream killer.

A fellow Fembot, Gauri Nanda, and her best friend Audry Hill are launching a new product called Toymail. Gauri’s first product was Clocky–the alarm clock that jumps off your nightstand and runs away to force you out of bed, (I keep my red one close at hand )!.
Their new product Toymail, are toys that receive your email and voicemail and speak them back to you.

I had a bunch of scanned documents i had to quickly convert to text. I polled my fellow FemBots and GuyBots, and here are the recommendations:

-Evernote (2 people) note: also handwriting to text
-Online OCR (3 people)
-Wondershare PDF Editor Pro
-Paperport Professional (not cheap)

<<These have not been used by anyone, but given as possible options>>
-Richoh’ Image to Text app
-Prismo ($10) Prismo
-Perfect OCR ($3) Perfect OCR

Also would like to add MyScriptMemo as a free app to convert handwriting to text on an iPad

Tools for Mocks-Mockflow + ProtoShare

I have used both ProtoShare and Mockflow (easier to use than ProtoShare) for click thru mocks the past couple of years.
Both are great tools for quickie prototyping, especially useful to communicate website or application concepts to developers.

A Really Smart Notebook

, , , , , ,

Write this down….Evernote has teamed up with Moleskin to bring a smart notebook. i am talking an old school paper and pen notebook. but here is the smart, take a picture of the page using the Evernote app on your tablet or phone and it converts it to text! using the  new Page Camera feature in the  latest Evernote update.

Handwriting recognition built into the moleskin notebook…very cool.

It uses the technology from the Livescribe dot paper mentioned in Issue #1 of MyFembot back in 2008.

The Evernote Moleskin notebook will be out soon; in the meantime, update your Evernote app and stay tuned.
