Pixel \noun\ a picture element. The number of pixels defines resolution quality.  So the more, the better. Each pixel represents a tiny sample or dot of the original. This is why resolution quality is sometimes described as dots per inch. Pixel resolution can also be stated as a single number, megapixel, where the rows and columns of pixels are multiplied. For example, 2048 x 1546 = 3.1 megapixel, like your digital camera. There are certain standard display resolutions, such as VGA (640 x 480), as seen on the MyVu.
